PURE water has no taste as it is just H2O. However tap water usually has ions (magnesium, calcium etc) in it giving it a slight taste of that ion. But these ions are harmless and in the case of hard water (water with magnesium and calcium ions in) have been linked to lowering your chance of cardiovascular diseases
Pure drinking water doesn't have a taste or odor. That said, if the water has been chemically treated with chlorine, as it is in some countries, it may have a taste. Also, if you put water in your refrigerator without a lid, it can absorb odors from the foods around it and end up with an odd taste.
