Even though some articles state that only aged or ripened cheese contain yeast, most sources indicate that all cheese does.

Here's a good source of foods to avoid in Related Links.

Also watch out for these ingredients on labels: Vegemite, Promite, Bovril, Marmite, Cenovis, Oxo. They are derived from yeast. If you're planning to go on a totally yeast-free diet, it's best if you check with the manufacturer.

According to the Science digest, yeast does not naturally occur in Feta cheese and if it is found the cheese is considered to be contaminated as a result.

Science digest has two reports on cheese from Sardinia see above and also from Denmark. In both cases the information is clear, yeast is considered to be an unwanted undesirable pollution.

If you have a history of yeast problems and have gone or have considered going on the candida diet to clear yeasts from your system feta is one of the cheeses suggested that you can still eat.
