change you thermostat it is stuck open or not closing fully. This allows the coolant to circulate to quickly.
Look under the drives side door. It is a small canistor protected by a heat shield. It is about the size of a soup can.
A car heater taps off engine heat. If you aren't driving, then the engine is cold and there's no heat for the car heater to use.
could either be a faulty heater core, or the water pump is starting to go and when you hit the gas the radiator fluid moves threwe the heater core beter
between the front wheels easy to take off and put back on but you do have to remove one screw from the heat shield to get it out it is very small cheaper to have overhauled than to replace.
My wife had the same problem, no heat when idle and blow cold air.. when driving the heat was fine.. Checked the antifreeze level and it was low.. got it topped off and that has brought the heat back at idle... hope that helps
you need to replace your heater core
Always a good idea to buy new bolts because the old ones stretch with the heat ,and may break or will not tork down correctly .
I own a 1995 Rodeo V6 and in the winter of 2008-2009 the heater stoped working, I replaced the thermostat and I got heat right away, Alternators go out usually when you have extra stuff added like amplifiers, I did replace mine but only as a prev maitanence.
Poor circulation probably due to a restricted (plugged up) heater core.
I'd check the coolant level first, then the thermostat.
