It is very important to protect your skin from the sun's rays. Some ways would be sunglasses to protect the eyelids, sunscreen, t shirts, staying inside, and not going out during the heat of the day.
There isn't really 4 specific things to do to make 100% sure that you don't get sun damage. The best thing to do is to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen, minimum 30, every day. Literally. because every day, even if it's winter, there are going to be UVA rays, (the rays that cause aging) and UVB (the rays that cause actual burns and possibly skin cancer) and so you should wear it all the time to be protected. You shouldn't be tanning in the sun for longer than about an hour, it starts to irritate and burn the skin, even if you can't see it. Self-tanners and booths are even worse though, aging your skin about 10 years every session. Sun's good, as long as your wearing sunscreen.:)
