Best Answer

Rice can go rancid of uncooked if moisture gets into the rice. There are also sometimes meal worms and the like that are found in rice. Cooked rice can mold after awhile even if refrigerated. It is best to use cooked rice immediately.

What is the correct phrase a bowl of cereal or a bowl of cereals?

I am not positive but I am pretty sure that the word cereal is plural, making the phrase "a bowl on cereal" "Cereal" is usually taken to be a zero-count noun but there are many types of cereal grains. If you were eating a bowl of many different types of cereals, you would be correct in emphasizing that by saying "cereals"...awkward but, correct.

How do you preserve cereal?

Keep water and oxygen out. Both of these contribute to rancidity reactions and microbial growth. Cereals typically have about 3% moisture, though most of this water is not available for any chemistry to occur. Even so, water within cereal will ultimately lead to rancidity. Sealing your cereal and freezing it is probably your best bet if you want to really make it last.
