Although you and your mother could have had a very similar TYPE of dreams, it is very unlikely that you actually had the same dream. Recurring nightmares are very common among children and represent normal childhood fears and anxieties. It is also quite possible that you and your mother were read or told the same stories as young children, which in turn triggered similar images in your individual nightmares. For example, the film "The NeverEnding Story" came out in 1984. Depending on your respective ages, it is quite possible that both you and your mother had nightmares that incorporated the rock creatures from that film. In each case, the rock monsters would have represented things that frightened each of you at that time; that might have been a fear of being abandoned or a fear of school or countless other things that feel threatening to children.
