How can you get an xp PC to recognize an external hard drive that worked fine was unplugged from the computer and plugged back in after a few weeks?
Flash drive not working I had the same problem soom weeks back. If possible do a 'System Restore' going back to the time when you took out your f lash drive.… I assume you have Windows XP on your system. Otherwise, I had to do a 'non-destructive restore' on mine using a program called 'PC Angel'. But if you have any type of support for your computer then you should call them first.
You have an external Hard Drive that your computer is not recognizing because you changed USB ports and your not sure which port it was to put back do you have to uninstall software and reinstall?
No. If the device is not detected, you have a hardware problem, not a software problem. Something is wrong with either your USB port or your drive; uninstalling and rein…stalling the software will have no effect.
Any external hard drive that presents itself as a standard USB Mass Storage device should work in Windows ME. This is about 95% of the drives on the market. Note that large ha…rd drives may perform very slowly with the FAT32 file system, and Windows ME does not support NTFS.
What could be the problem if your USB flash drive works with other computers - but Windows does not recognize it on your own computer?
You might need a driver for it (this is especially likely if you are using a somewhat older version of Windows.) Go to the manufacturer's website and search for a driver… for your device, download, and install it, and try again.
a USB flash drive works just like an external hard drive only it is smaller, cheaper, and sometimes has less space the hard drives do.
yes you can plug it in and it should act as a normal hard drive under my computer(or where ever) then put your disk in and upload it when it asks you where to put it i…nstall on the hard drive that you pluged in make sure its not your internal hard drive if that doesn't work then remove your internal drive and use your external so u don't get mixed up and follow the onscreen instructions
My computer displays blue screen while i am installing windows xp sp2 can you tell me what the possible causes could beI'v changed the hard disk but it couldn't work?
Bad memory or incompatible hardware
You installed windows xp on your old computer you were using a external 250gb usb back up drive you have just mounted the drive in the computer as a primary drive but the drive is reading only 137gbs?
You have encountered the LBA28 barrier. Most computers manufactured before 2002 had a limit of 128 GiB, or approximately 137.4 GB.
Emachine computer glitched during a power outage now windows won't load. Is there a way to pull files off of that computer Perhaps a USB to USB from other computer as if from external hard drive?
Dependably, there are quite a few ways to do this: Boot into another operating system live, such as 'Ubuntu', and start to pull the information off onto a USB device. …Any Linux OS's are free to download and use. http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download Another great way is to take the hard drive out of your computer, and put it into another computer with a main hard drive already in it; this way you can just put the files onto the other hard drive, or another USB device. Either way it may take a little research on your part, but this is a fairly common issue, and is not that hard to solve Cheers, Frances
Probably not. It would require special software, and an adapter so that you could plug the USB into the camera directly.
AN XBOX 360 has 2 front USB ports, and 1 back USB port, an XBOX 360 hard drive will work for sure. A USB flash drive will work on the xbox 360 after you get the Spring 2010 Da…shboard update
Well first off you need a pen drive that has enough space to hold the entire install disk then you will need to set your bios to boot from whatever drive letter your pen drive… will be plugged into. Double click on your my computer icon with your pen drive plugged in and check the drive letter it was assigned, that will be the letter you will have to change your boot up drive to in your bios. I would be sure to keep your CD drive as at least the second boot up drive just in case you run into any other problems. I have personally never tried this and wouldn't recommend it because I am concerned that when you wipe the hard drive to install the new operating system you will most likely lose the driver that controls your usb ports and the pen drive wont work. If at all possible i would use the CD to install your operating system!
In Windows 98
USB 2.0 drives will fall back to USB 1.1 speed if plugged into a USB 1.1 port. Windows 98 contains no driver for USB Flash drives by default, but a generic one can be in…stalled. These will work with almost any drive, regardless of rated speed.
Wd mybook 320 gb external hard drive will not recognize as a usb 2 even though it is plugged into a usb 2 port?
Your USB port might be broken, therefore you will have to buy a USB extension from your local I.T store, try another normal USB to see if it is broken if not there might be so…mething wrong with the WD external hardrive.
Are you asking whether you are asking for drive letter or drivers? If you are talking about drive letter, that all depends on what letter is open when you plug in your USB dev…ice. The computer will assign it the next letter in the alphabet. If you are talking about drivers, that is specific to the computer. Depending on the computer you have, you will need to do some research to figure out which driver it needs.
My Computer doesn't register when I plug my camera in with a usb cable but my flash drives work so is what is wrong with my camera?
It could be a faulty USB cable. Make sure the camera is switched on, some need to be powered up as well as plugged in.
