If you really want to know an AVG of how many Calls an ambulance goes on a shift, you have to chose which city your talking about. For instance, Chicago has alot more calls then say San Antonio. So decided which City you want and then ask the question. But shifts are usually 12hours long. And it takes roughly 45min- 120min on a Call. You do the math if they are getting back to back calls.

What are the dangers of being a police officer?

Being a police officer is hard to begin with. Not only will you have to be very physically fit but mentally sharp as well. You will have to have a quick reaction time, and good reflexes. Police officers will have to attend calls where they will deal with weapons, alcohol, drugs, and violence. And it's not uncommon for officers to become injured on duty. Officers will also deal with people who have various diseases, such as AIDS or hepatitis. Officers will be exposed to contagious bodily fluids, and must take precautions to protect themselves. Driving is also a major concern. It is perhaps one of the greatest dangers that officers face, as they are on patrol constantly. Driving code 3 to emergencies increases the risk ten fold. Even with the light bar activated and the wailer full blast, there will always be that foolish driver who isn't paying attention. Or is playing the stereo full blast and can't hear you coming...
