That's the antilock brake system (ABS) . The first thing I would check is the condition of the brake pads. There is a sensor on the rotor that measures the amount of force used to brake. It can get dirty and send a bad signal. You can also have an electrical problem. If it's not the sensors, have it checked. It doesn't mean your brakes will fail. It means that they will lock up if you push them too hard.
