Peer pressure is beneficial only when there is a healthy competition and a learning spirit among the peers. A competitive approach often leads to proving each other wrong, which is the ugliest effect of peer pressure. The competitive spirit also leads to a thinking of being at par with the others. This could be in the form of absorbing new culture, beliefs, lifestyle etc. This triggers continuous improvement and thus leads to more good than harm.

Manipulation is a more dangerous and intense form of peer pressure. it is actually controlling another person, rather than just pressuring them.

Peer pressure happens to everyone and not just boys. Boys and girls are affects different when they give in to peer pressure. Boys are more likely to be bullied more at school because they do what their bully tells them to do. This is an example of bullying peer pressure. Peer pressure normally ends up doing things that you know are wrong or that you don't think you like.

Peer pressure in school means that you feel like you should do what everyone else is doing. because your "peers" want you to do it. Peer pressure is not particular to age. Once a child starts to socialize with other children who are approximately the same age peer pressure starts. Its just that today's society seems to place more emphasis on peer pressure from early to late adolescence.
