Reasons why people believe in god?

Suppose there were two twin brothers who were still to be born and they were conversing with one another. The first brother says to the other, "Brother, do you think there is life after birth? Do you believe in Mom?" The other brother replies, "Nah, I don't believe in those things, I'm an Atheist. I mean really, have you ever seen Mom?" This is a perfect analogy to religion in this world. We can't see God with our own eyes, nor can we touch him with our own hands. Science defies the complete existence of God and there is absolutely no evidence that can support the fact that there is a God. God to many is just a concept that humans have made up. There is no proof that can prove that there is a God, nor any that can deny it. I believe in God because I've had personal experiences. Through struggling, pain, misery, and sorrow, there is always something out there that brings me up through hard times, something that shows me the right path, something that I can look up to for help when the whole world despises me. That is what I call God.

To an agnostic or an athiest, the answer would be more like: "People believe in god because they feel a need to believe in god, whether or not such belief is founded in fact."
