Replaced egr valve check engine light still on and computer says egr valve is faulty what is the solution?

Replace EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) Solenoid and DPFE sensor after testing from here

or just unhook egr valve and plug hose - reset engine light by removing battery cable. Plug vacuum hose back in for emmissions test.

Once they did that, all was well. We also replaced the crank sensor, but I am pretty sure that was just replacing a part instead of a good diagnosis. By the way, the computer message from the check engine light was inconclusive.
