This decision should be made by each drug company individually. If you force someone to be charitable, it becomes merely a tax, or a coercion. These companies exist because people buy their drugs... They do not receive donations, they are not charities.
True, there are many people in serious need of help in Africa, but as the old Chinese proverb goes, "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.
Obviously everyone's going to have their own opinion... But let me put it this way. Do you want someone telling you you MUST give 10% of your earnings to your church? Or if you're a farmer, do you want someone to FORCE you to give your crops away to hungry people? Or how about your car... Want someone to MAKE you give rides to homeless people? I think not.
