There is often no medical reason to do so but I shave mine since I don't like all the hair.

I have been doing it since I was 15 (I'm now 34). Yes, you will be a few strange looks in the locker room or questions, but most don't care. I am a muscular guy (not muscle bound) but I know I have a good body and I don't care to be seen nude. If you ask me why I did it, I would have to say try it and see for yourself. Besides, I am not a hairy guy and I am not one of those dudes who have a hairy bush!

Absolutely nothing wrong with shaving any part of your body. It's sad that we have to even ask that question. I've kept my genital area shaved and trimmed for 20 years and have wouldn't think twice about growing hair again. I don't have the itchy scratchy problem most men do when you see them walking around making adjustments. It's a personal preference along both sexes. Some women like hair and others find smooth and bare very attractive as well. It takes me just as long to shave my face as it does to shave and trim my genitals.

The infection theory has been proven wrong. Men who shave their genitals, the same as with women, report fewer infections than girls and guys with full growth, The key is to trim everyday. The first or second shaves for a girl should be done with another person helping. after that, it's easy.

For girls and guys between the ages of 18 and 35, over 60% shave at least 90% of their pubic hair.

I agree with the first answer, it's YOUR choice. A tidbit: if a girl wears thongs at least half the time, she will be shaving all of her pubic hair at least three times a week. Same if guys wear thongs. My guy and I wear thongs most of the time. We shave each other at least twice a week and shave ourselves the other days.

And if a girl is dating she shaves at least 80% of the time.
