This is an answer from a Senior Citizen: When we are in our youth our family must direct our lives. Time must be allocated, for study, friends, arts, sciences, music and of course the new tool the internet.
Anything in excess is never beneficial for the most part. Surfing "Google Scholar" on the other hand may teach you what you do not know. Especially the large words you will need a thick dictionary to comprehend.
Youth loves myspace.com and other youthful sites. Surf them in moderation and mix time and your study time surfing your answers at Google Scholar as example..
Is it Safe, depends on what your family deems harmful?
