Should you tell a childhood friend that you love them?

There is this girl who I have known since I was about six years old and now I am 19. I love her more than anything in the world and would never do anything to hurt her. Until recently I never really knew how strong my feelings for her really are. She is in a bad relationship, and I have been there for her every step of the way. I would do anything for her and I just need to know if telling her how I really feel is a good thing to do. I would really appreciate any help on this.

An excellent relationship often begins with friendship and turns into love. However, take it slow and easy so you don't scare her away. You might try saying something like, "You know, we've been friends a long time and get along well. Just for a hoot how about we go out on a normal date and see what happens." She will probably go for that and if you still just remain friends after that you have maintained your friendship without any stress, and held onto your dignity. Good luck Marcy
