  • Countries have to provide alternatives for poor farmers who are cutting into the rainforest to make room for food crops.
  • Countries have to pass laws outlawing logging. Oh, hang on, most of them have!
  • Countries have to strictly enforce their anti-logging laws. Money and cronyism should not provide immunity.
  • Education programs must reduce the demand for furniture made from rainforest timbers.
  • Recycle old furniture and wood.
  • Illegal logging is an eminent threat to nature, and causes floods and soil erosion.
  • Illegal logging should be controlled by the government authorities by concentrating on forest regions and taking appropriate actions against timber mafia.
  • You have to identify the company that is doing the illegal logging. Then you have to contact the authorities that have the jurisdiction to enforce the laws. Sometimes those are state authorities and sometimes those are federal authorities.
  • Building fences around forests are sometimes a solution for illegal logging.
  • Educating the public on what to look for is also a way you can cut down on illegal logging.

  • Governments should help poor farmers to grow profitable crops without destroying forests for cropland
  • There is a colossal world demand for red meat (Hamburgers). Cattle need pasture and this is often at the expense of forests. If we ate more chicken, sheep and pork instead of beef we would reduce this demand. Eating vegetarian one of two days a week would be good. Some people do it seven days a week!

Illegal logging would be greatly reduced if countries would impose much harsher punishments on the ones committing the crime.

  • Such as forfeiture of all the equipment used by the person/company that committed the illegal logging,
  • take their trucks,
  • their heavy equipment,
  • take their saws,
  • freeze their bank accounts and
  • investigate all their previous logging actions for other criminal offenses.
  • fine said person/company up to $500,000
  • Impose stricter regulations on the sawmills to properly verify that the logs they are buying are legally obtained,
  • Hire more state inspectors to check on the logging operations in the state,
  • offer a $100,000 tax free reward to anyone who reports illegal logging that leads to a conviction.
  • When logging companies can lose their entire business and all possession held by said business then they will not be so inclined to steal timber...
  • The government should deploy their police force or the military if the situation is very desperate.
  • The solution to illegal logging is stricter rules and regulations. People also have to take more of an interest in where their wood made products come from. They should stop buying items made from wood obtained illegally.
  • a solution for illegal logging is to avoid cutting trees and we must help to plant more trees
