I ran for student president and got in. First of all you must have a good attitude. Nobody likes a downer. Good grades play a big part, you need to be able to juggle school work and your responsibilities. Being able to communicate is also huge. You will need to talk to students and staff. If you're shy its pointless. Take it seriously but not so serious that your an arse.
Go to your school's art room and ask the teacher if the art club or a other class could make some QUALITY pieces of art to give to loyal nursing homes if she/he says yes then set up a time with the local nursing home/s to present your pieces. It will bring smiles to all of their faces!!!!
Try getting the students involved too. Host a movie night. It was super successful at our school. In the gym or cafeteria set up a projector and post signs to advertise the night all throughout the middle or high school. Then pick a movie that most of the students would enjoy and set up concessions. Charge about $2.00 and then like 50 cents for popcorn or soda.
We also had a talent show and a live band play at our school. We try to get everyone involved and it usually leaves no one feeling left out or ignored. There are many ideas from canned food to selling Bracelets sending a message such as "Ban Bullying" (like in my school). Hat day, crazy sock day, try setting a record with the whole school. :D
I think some good ideas for "Student Body President" is.......Ice cream bar after lunch...NO GOTHICS.......Daily Contests...Movies during lunch......Talent Shows In The Middle Of the Year. Did any of my suggestions help? If so, glad to help!

a student council historian is a child you takes photos of there school. they also are in charge of the school newspaper.
To be a good student council within your school, you must spread spirit throughout the school, be positive role models for students, and work on improving things in your school. Usually student councils will host food drives, dances, and other positive projects throughout the community. It also helps to be either involved with your state's official student council association, or to join the national association. You can also browse the web for great ideas for your stu co to do.

If you are student council rep, it gives you power to control the future of the school, but not that much. its just more of a popularity contest and people want to prove they are popular.
