∙ 10y agoThe first major battle of the war was fought near Bull Run Creek outside the town of Manassas Junction, Virginia, just a few miles from Washington, D.C. The northern papers called it the Battle of Bull Run. The South called it the Battle of Manassas, later changed to First Manassas due to another battle fought there later in the war.
