That exact phrase comes from Abraham Lincoln's "Gettysburg Address", but the idea that governments can only be legitimate when the people themselves control them is much older….. ______________________________________________________________________. Well, somebody's got a way with words! Anyways, the answer is, yes, ABRAHAM LINCOLN.. Lu, meh!
US citizens VOTE for the government official who then REPRESENTS the citizens while in office.
Democracy? No Democracy means all citizens have equal say. And because Lincoln was talking in the Gettysburg address about the United states of America, he was talking about …a democratic republic not a democracy. A government of the people by the people for the people is in fact a statement of the very essence of the American form of Government a four part democratic republic with a civil authority, and three government branches Judicial, Legislative, and Executive. By the people we vote for delegates, of the people offices held by citizens, for the people, in the interests of the constitutionally protected freedoms of each resident of the USA
that the people rule the government by voting for officials
That means that the government should be basically run by it's citizens. That's why normal citizens run for offices, like representatives of state, and senators, and mayors, g…overnors, and presidents. "...and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth" was the last line of Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. See the link below.
All members of American government are Also citizens of the country and are run by citizens, not Royals (of the people, by the people), they work for you to keep the country… running (for the people).
President Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. November 19, 1863
The phrase, "... and that government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from the Earth." is from Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.
anarchy----Democracy. Technically, it can also be called "anarchism" or "anarchy" from "an-" (no) "arch" (ruler), the state of having no ruler over us but ourselves.-but incor…rectly- called anarchy. The correct term would be "chaos".If you have no idea what this is about please look it up, then come back and try again. thank you so much!you may email me at firstname.lastname@example.orgIt's about what Lincoln was saying in the Gettysburg Address. Anarchy it is not. It is about Democratic Government.
