Louis XV was the king of France from 1715-1774. During his reign France participated in three major wars: The War of the Polish Succession, The War of the Austrian Succession, and The Seven Years' War. Under him France lost most of its colonies and prestige as a military superpower, though art, science, and the Age of Enlightenment did flourish under him in France. A lot of historians though do think he contributed a lot to the outbreak of the French Revolution which would happen under the reign of his successor Louis XVI.
