∙ 9y agoTo me, I find the original version of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Mermaid" too tragic because the mermaid turns into sea foam and the prince marries another girl. In the Disney Version, it is much happier because the mermaid named Ariel marries her prince named Eric

The real ending would be the Hans Christian Anderson ending. The little mermaid accepts death rather than kill her prince and return to being a mermaid.
