The Communist Party officially began in China in 1921. Later, during the Japanese invasion of China, the Communists led by Mao Za Dong fought the Japanese as well as the party run by Chiang Hai- Shek, known as the KMT. After WW 2, there was a civil war in China. The forces of Mao Za-Dong won and in 1949 the Peoples Republic of China was created. It remains a communist nation with some features of a free market economy.
