The atomic bomb was the decision of President Harry S. Truman. He wanted to end the World War II against the Japanese and the U.S. because Japanese refused to surrender.All and all, it ended as the U.S. showing the Japanese that we were a threat and with that, world war II was ended.-------Hope this helped =-)

∙ 13y agoThe US Army Air Corp: Paul Tibbets was the pilot of the Enola Gay that carried the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima. Charles W. Sweeney was the commander of Bockscar, the B29 that dropped Fat Man on Nagasaki.
Bockscar has often been mistakenly named Bock's Car, Bocks Car or Boxcar. The name is a pun related to the pilot to whom it was assigned, Captain Fredrick Bock. Sweeney's assigned bomber, The Great Artiste, was outfitted with test instrumentation, when he used it during the atomic attack on Hiroshima. Bockscar was set up to carry and drop the bomb on Nagasaki. Since it was Sweeney who was trained to pilot the plane carrying the bomb, it was he who flew Bockscar.
