its all polar. The molecules are made up of two hydrogen and one oxygen molecule. They arrange themselves in a assymetrical way. This causes the molecule to have a different charge at one end than the other, so the molecules are attracted to one another. That's the short answer, depending on how specific you need there is probably and really specific definition on wikipedia, just read about the physical properties of the water molecule, it is a quite interesting and unique molecule. Also called cohesion.

When water molecules stick to the molecules of other substance the molecules are displaying?

Adhesion is the ability of water molecules to stick to other molecules. Cohesion is the ability of water molecules sticking to one another.

Why do water molecules stick to each other?

They are polar and form hydrogen bonds

What is Tendency of water molecules to stick together is?

What is it called when water sticks to other things?

Water molecules form weak hydrogen bonds with each other when close, which causes them to stick together. This is called cohesion. It is one of three highly unique properties of water, the other two being adhesion, which is water's ability to stick to other materials, and surface tension, which causes the water molecules to act almost like an elastic sheet, like when water is on the lip of a glass, but doesn't spill.

Why is it Important for water molecules to form hydrogen bonds with other water molecules?

Hydrogen bonds are what give water its amazing abilities of cohesion, adhesion, and surface tension. Cohesion is what makes water molecules stick together. Think about watching raindrops trickle down a window. When they touch each other, they combine into one droplet. That is the hydrogen part of a water molecule forming a bond with the oxygen part of another water molecule. Adhesion is what allows water molecules to stick to other substances, due to the aforementioned hydrogen bonds. Surface tension is what allows some insects to walk on water. If you look closely at them, you can see the surface of the water dip where the insects' legs touch the water. The water molecules are still being held together by the hydrogen bonds; however, if you or I were to try to walk on water, our weight would cause the hydrogen bonds to break, and we would fall in.

When water molecules stick to the molecules of other substance the molecules are displaying?

Adhesion is the ability of water molecules to stick to other molecules. Cohesion is the ability of water molecules sticking to one another.

How does Cohesion cause water to stick together?

cohesion is when molecules of a certain similar kind (in this case water molecules) are more attracted to each other than to those of other substances. Water molecules are strongly cohesive as each molecule may make four hydrogen bonds to other water molecules.

What makes water adhesive?

cohesion-- Water molecules stick to each other. adhesion-- Water molecules stick to other molecules. Water is a polar molecule because of oxygen is more electronegative. Hydrogen bonds create surface tension and result it water's cohesive and adhesive properties. Hydrophobic = repel water Hydropholic = affinity for water. ...... hahaha XD

What water molecules stick to other water molecules this property is called?

Cohesion is a property of water molecules, in which they stick together due to the fact that they form hydrogen bonds with one another.

What special abilities do water molecules have because they are polar?

Because water molecules are polar, they exhibit both cohesion adhesive. They are cohesive because they stick to other water molecules, and adhesive because they also stick to other surfaces.

How water's properties attribute to it's cohesive behavior?

cohesion means the water molecules stick to other water molecules, adhesion is when the water molecules stick to other things like the inside of a stem of a plant.

How does the hydrogen bonding between water molecules affect the properties of water?

It enables water molecules to stick to each other and to many other things.

Why do water molecules stick to each other?

They are polar and form hydrogen bonds

How does adhesion and cohesion affect each other?

Adhesion is where water molecules stick to other things, and cohesion is where the water molecules stick to each other. The combination of this makes it so that together, they can climb up things like roots of a tree to give the tree water.

What property explains waters cohesion adhesion and heat capacity?

The properties are: Cohesion is the attraction between molecules of the same substance. Adhesion is the attraction between molecules of different substances. An example of cohesion is how you can cause water to extend out over the rim of a glass if you fill it carefully; the molecules are all pulling together. An example of adhesion is when you dip a piece of paper towel into a glass of water. The water will climb up the fibers of the paper above the level of the water in the glass. The water is attracted to the paper.

Why does water stick to itself?

Because of hydrogen bonds which help water molecules stick to each other. hope it helped i just learned it today
