A kid should find a song for his/her voice range. Also it should be age appropriate (If the kid is 12 he/she should not sing a song about love). Most schools and shows prefer if you sing a show-tune (song in a show or on Broadway).
This subject is very subjective to the child. First, you need to know the range of the preteen. Alto, Soprano, Tenor, or Bass? This will determine what songs will be too high or too low for the child. For a young boy, songs from Peter Pan or Pippin would most likely be within range. Try to find songs that are around the child's age. Musical songs are always welcome and best for an audition setting. If you have a musical director or teacher in the area, it would be very helpful if you asked them their opinion before completely deciding for yourself. You only get one shot at that audition, so you want to be very confident with your abilities and song choice.
My Strongest Suit is a great song for an audition. This song is full of energy and drama!
I would think so. It is a good audition song depending on what your auditioning for.

In my own opinion, it is not a good song to use for a Kpop audition. Try to sing a song from Beyonce or Mariah Carey.
Send in the clowns because it has a large range of notes.
