No, it is not even close to being the largest country in Africa. Algeria has now become the largest country on the African continent, followed by the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire), the new Sudan (while South Sudan has seceded, the newly formed Sudan itself is still larger than Egypt), and Libya. Other countries, such as Ethiopia, Angola, South Africa, Chad, and Niger are still larger than Egypt. I hope this gives you an idea of the sizes of these countries.
Sudan
no... Sudan is bigger
The 2 are Algeria and Democratic Republic of Congo.
Algiers is the capital of Algeria, now the largest country in Africa by land area. Prior to 2011, when Sudan was still united, it was larger than Algeria. The capital of Sudan was, and still remains, Khartoum.
Sudan is bigger than Saudi Arabia in area by around 14,000 sq miles.
Well now that Sudan split into Sudan and South Sudan it is no longer the largest country in Africa making Algeria the new largest country in Africa
