A tornado is a violent whirlwind, not a solid object that you can touch. There is no definite edge. If you are close enough to be near the edge of the funnel or debris cloud, you will likey be knocked over or picked up by the wind, or killed or injured by debris.

The most common way to die in a tornado is to be hit by flying or falling debris. People have also been killed by falling trees and collapsing buildings. Others have been picked up and thrown. People have died in fires from broken gas lines and overturned stoves and have been electrocuted by power lines. Some have drowned in water from ruptured pipes after being trapped by debris.

If you are outside, there is a good chance you will be killed or injured by debris, or knocked down by the winds. If the tornado is strong enough, you could get pulled into it and thrown to your death.
