Jefferson was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and a Founding Father.

I can only imagine it is some sort of sick joke by the Federal Reserve. Thomas Jefferson was vehemently opposed to Fiat currency.

Thomas Jefferson, the 3rd president, is depicted on the US $2 bill.

The reverse of the current bill carries a slightly-modified interpretation of Trumbull's painting, The Signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Older $2 bills carried a picture of Jefferson's house Monticello.
