Pteridophytes:-it include horstell and ferns. These are used for medicinal purposes and as soil-binders. These are found in cool, damp and shady places.these are also frequently growth.they are the 1st terrestrial posses vascular tissue. the main plant body is sporophytic. I.e (a) Selaginella (b) Equisetum (c) Ferns (d) Salvinia

BRYOPHYTES:- it include the various mosses and liveworts that are found in commonky growing in moist shaded areas in the hills. These are also called as amphibians of the plant kingdom because these plants can live in soil but are dependent on water for sexual reproduction. They usually occur in damp, humid and shaded. They play an important role in plant succession on bare rocks/soil.it produce gametes, hence it is called as gametophyte.thy may possess root-like,leaf-like or stem-like str.the main plant body of the brynphyte is heploid. I.e (a)Liveworts (mosses).

Why are gametophytes green?

Gametophytes are green only in bryophytes and pteridophytes. This is to be photosynthetic.

What is the difference between pteridophytes and gymnosperms?

Stem of gymnosperm is aerial.Stem of pteridophytes are mostly underground.Tree Ferns have long aerial stems but these are Pteridophytes. The real difference is that gymnosperms bear seeds pteridophytes are without seeds.

How would you describe the origin of bryophytes?

Comparative study of the plant groups show that the bryophytes have forms more complex than the algae but they are less developed than the pteridophytes although there is a tendency of differentiation of the gametophytic body which is not found in the pteridophytes

What reproduce using spores?

Lower plants like bryophytes and pteridophytes reproduce using spores.

What group of plants require water for sexual reproduction to occur?

Strictly speaking all plants, for without water plants die! However algae, bryophytes (mosses and liverworts) and pteridophytes (ferns) all have motile male gametes which require free water to swim through to the female gamete.

Why is it important for bryophytes to grow in more shaded areas?

bryophytes and pteridophytes grow in moist and shady places because they do not have the ability to withstand the sun light

The first land inhabitating plants are?

(1) Angiosperms (2) Bryophytes (3) Gymnosperms (4) Pteridophytes.

What are the differences between bryophytes and spermatophytes?

What is difference between pteridophytes and gymnosperm?

Gymnosperms are a group of seed bearing plants including conifers, there are only between 700 and 900 species. Pteridophytes produce neither seeds nor flowers, they reproduce by spores. They are often planted as ornamentals.

Rank in order from oldest to youngest fern bryophyte and bacteria?

Bacteria, arising in the Precambrian followed by bryophytes, the simplest land plants of the Silurian and Devonian followed by pteridophytes (ferns), more advanded than bryophytes due to the acquisition of vascular tissue and sporophyte dominance.

What is the difference between vascular pants and non vascular plants?

You get two pairs for less than double and they don't crease but they do not last as long as the plants. Vascular plants have well defined xylem & phloem and is the characterstic feature of Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms and Angiosperms. Non-vascular plants lack xylem & ploem as in case of Algae, Fungi and Bryophytes.

What kind of plants reproduce with spores and which kind of plants reproduce with seeds?

Plants belonging to bryophytes and Pteridophytes etc. reproduce with spores and thoseof gymnosperms and angiosperms reproduce with seeds.
