Firstly, you should not breed if you do not have -

  • Good stock
  • Healthy stock
  • MONEY to pay for the animals
  • GUARANTEED homes for the pups
  • Responsibility to become the owner of pregnant dog/pups
  • A good vet

Now, this goes for any animal. The dog should no longer be bred when -

  • He/She gets old
  • They arent healthy
  • They are sick
  • Can't properly deliver pups/has complications

A vet can tell you when your dog needs a break or cannot be bred any more.

It's not really a matter of what age, it's a matter of how many litters a dog has already had. Usually, for most breeders, they will stop breeding a female dog after her third or fourth litter.

Dogs should be at least one year of age and in good health before breeding. In my opinion, one litter a year is healthy for a dog. And breeding should stop when they are over 6 years old.
