With pretty much any lead-acid battery, 15-amps will give you a full charge. **
More than 15 amps will cause overheating.
Less than 15 amps will recharge too slowly.
2 amps is referred to as a "trickle charge", and is placed on a full charge to keep the battery fully charged. This is especially useful in the winter when you are using a weak battery in which the capacity might drop off (cels are sulfated / battery is not as efficient).
*** However, consult your manual and/or 4-wheeler dealer for information about your specific vehicle.
The difference is the amount of energy the charger will put into the battery over a given amount of time. A 2 amp charger is great to use to keep a battery charged when it is in storage. A 10 amp is used to recharge a battery in just a few hours. Always buy an automatic charger so you will never overcharge your battery.
Yes, but it would take a very very long time. You really need at least a 10 amp charger.
Not with out being attached to a battery charger. On a 10 amp charger in 8 hours it will charge enough to start the car, allowing the battery is god enough to charge
it needs approximate 8-9 amp current to charge.
Connect the positive clip of the battery charger to the positive terminal on the battery. Connect the negative clip of the battery charger to the negative terminal on the battery. Select the charge rate you desire either 2,4, or 6 amp. The newer battery chargers will let you know when it is fully charged.
Any 12 volt battery charger with an automatic feature. I own a Schumacher 520A-PE and it is an excellent inexpensive charger for the homeowner. It will charge at 10 amp to recharge an auto battery in about 3-5 hours. Also has a 2 amp trickle charge to maintain a stored battery as on a lawn mower. Will shut off when done to prevent overcharging.
Well...the answer is I don't know. My Verizon box was beeping so I pulled out the battery and hit it with a 2 amp self regulating charger which regulated to 1/2 amp. It brought the voltage up to 13.92. So I re-installed it and it doesn't beep anymore. So we will see what ha-ppens.
Understanding AMP-HOUR Ratings of BatteriesFor example, if a battery has a 10 Amp-hour rating that means that the battery should provide a current 10 Amps for ONE [hour], or 1 Amp for 10 hours, or 5 Amps for 2 hours, or 2 1/2 Amps for 4 hours. By using the Amp-hour rating, you can determine the "size" of battery needed by multiplying the current [Amps] you need to do a job, and how long [in hours] you need that current to be supplied before having to recharge the battery. One caution however, Amp-hour ratings are not always 100% accurate, and you must be prepared to recharge more often if the battery does not actually produce that much power. This problem usually manifests itself when the power is drawn out of the battery in huge amounts/rates rapidly. When a battery is discharged at a very slow rate in relation to its capacity, then the Amp-hour ratings are usually very accurate.
The "amp-hour" number is the length of time the battery is expected to lastbetween charges, in normal use. It's a way of describing the battery's capacity. The device in which it's installed won't know the difference. The real differenceis that you won't have to recharge the battery as often.Make sure that the voltage of both batteries is the same. If they're not, thenyou can't do it. If they are, then go right ahead. And by the way, batteries with 400 Amp-hour or 600 Amp-hour capacities arecar batteries or truck batteries. They're bigger than a breadbox and weigh aton. The batteries for portable phones may be 400 or 600 mAh ... milliamp-hours.1 Amp-hour is 1,000 milliamp-hours.
The 50 amp charging circuit will never be able achieve a full charge for the 70 amp hour battery, thus in effect turning the 70 amp hour battery into a 50 amp hour battery.
Any 12 V battery charger will charge a motorcycle battery. But it is best to get one with low amperage such as a 4 to 6 amp battery charger. You can use a trickle charger to keep the battery charged on my motorcycle during storage.
4 amp battery, some can fit up to a 7 amp.
