Rene Descartes was a mathematician and philosopher. While he never wrote a political philosophy, he approved of Senecaâ??s acquiescence in the proper order and argued against Machiavelli's idea of lying to friends and distrusting all because he deeply believed people needed one another.
Descartes' father was a member of Parliament of Brittany, and so Rene visited many governments. He did however, espouse reason as the basis for everything, focusing on what could be proven instead of what is true. In this, he proposed that the Church should be separated from government.
Rene Descartes promoted math, science, and philosophy. He would want a government that was accepting of the practice and research and problem solving.
Descartes believed in solving problems based on questioning. He would prefer a logical government that worked to resolve issues in practical ways.
