∙ 14y agoThe only advantage of CDs, and vice versely DVDs, is the easy distribution of software to large audiences. This is why video games come on some form of a disc for the most part. In the private world of home computing there are no advantages to using a CD. Flash drives have made them out of date. They are faster, higher capacity, and take up less physical space.

- They are very cheap, postable, fairly robust .
- Cheaper.
- Permanent - can't be erased accidentally.
- Burns faster.
- Playable on most CD players.
- Can be erased and reused.
- When used with packet writing software like Roxio DirectCD or Nero InCD, you can access the CD-RW like any other drive in Windows Often plays on DVD players that won't play CD-Rs.

∙ 9y agoA compact disk has advantages over other forms of media. It is smaller and lighter than the old vinyl records. A cd also doesn't get ruined as easily as a record or a cassette tape does.
