Well, a Competent person/construction safety officer is responsible for reporting, finding, avoiding, predicting, and fixing unsafe work, unsafe workplace, or unsafe workers, while incorporating systems such as fall protection or fall prevention. Basically upholding the construction field reference 1926 OSHA mandated standards as well as the general industry field reference 1911. Their main priority is to ensure that the workplace is safe for all workers and that hazards are avoided along with making sure that all workers are fit to work (physically and mentally and complete with training and equipment). It is their tasks to ensure that all health and safety risks and hazards are properly dealt with.
