Contemporary sociology involves asking more questions. Foreign societies are more closely studied than they used to be. Globalization has taken a much more important role in sociology than in the early days of the science. Similarities include using many of the same theories today that were used in the early days of sociology.
While both 'disciplines' look at social interactions and the way in which they manifest, I would say the most striking similarities are that they are both built on flimsy foundations and use 'likert' style questioning to support theories about situations that no one cares about. For a look at how to make up your own theory without the need for any empirical support look up Goffman, and for a theory that explains that human beings are scared about death and hence use compensatory methods see 'Terror Management Theory'. Two irrelevant theories that prove another similarity between both disciplines is redundancy.
Political Science is much more focused on the mechanics of the state and political systems. Usually, they focus the study of one particular branch of the state, such as the presidency, legislature, or judiciary. Other branches focus on voting behavior, political parties, relations between states (International Relations/Foreign Policy), or differences between political systems (comparative politics).
Sociology on the other hand is much more focused on the well-being of societies. When they do include the state or political system as a variable of interest, its to examine how the state is providing for the people in terms of the welfare state, crime policy, etc. Also, because sociology is much more focus on society in general, its sub-areas are broader in scope covering everything from Immigration and globalization to social inequality and health disparities
Well, they are both studying human behaviour in many different ways. Due to environmental influences. Political science (socially) studies how Humans are effected by ideologies and their personal behaviour. While Political sociology deals with "Why this is?".
both anthropology and sociology talk about people
They both study societies, communities and cultures and their subsequent institutions, norms and practices.
both emphasise the individual.

I also find that sociology is much more pertinent to public policy because of their focus on the content of what political systems do as opposed to their mechanics (how they are maintained). Sociology and history are much interelated with eachother.History is the branch of the social science which deals with the records of past events.Historical sociology is the discipline which is concern with the studyu of socila phenomena, social process and so forth in the past.It is also called social history.SIMILARITIES BETWEEN SOCIOLOGY AND HISTORYSociology is the study of society while history seeks to establish the squence in which events occurs in the past .Like historian sociologist are concerns with the relationship between events occuring more or less at the same time .In this context, history suplies the material for sociologu as well as sociology gives the social background for the study of historrry. It is further said that history would be meaningless without explaining sociallly significiant events.Sociologist are most intrested in teh contemporary events and recent past which is also related with history. Thus, their mitual dependance upon eachother has lead G.E Howard to remarks that"history is the past of sociology and sociology is the present history."A depection of the ancient library of AlexandriaPeter Worsley says that "The best history is infact sociology, or sociology of the past."
Magic relies on scientific laws to perform what can look like amazing feats. Throughout the years, people educated in science could be regarded as magicians, wizards, and witches. Today, magicians rely on scientific laws to perform magic acts. Science does not rely on magic, but magic relies on science.
Psychology is part of the three sciences, which also include anthropology and sociolgy. Each are a study of humans, whether is be cultures (sociology) , origins (Anthropolgy) or the human mind (psychology) Psychology is the study of science that deals with mental processes and behaviour. Sociology is the study of people in groups. So, how do they coincide? They both involve people!
There is no relationship between earth science and astrology as astrology is a pseudo science. There is however an interrelationship between earth science and astronomy as these are both true sciences.
Modeling of reality is the relationship between Sociology and Physics. Sociology is a social science whereas Physics is a physical science.
Political science focuses on the formation and functions of political institutions, such as the government. Political sociology deals with the interrelation of society and politics. Political sociologists are concerned with society's effect on the institution, and vice versa. It studies the people involved in and affected by the political institutions/government, rather than focusing solely on the actual political institution, as political science does. I hope that helps! I'm actually in the process of writing about this for my political sociology class, so the subject is fresh on my mind. ~Ashley_V85~
Sociology is interrelated with all of the liberal arts disciplines. Sociology relates to political science, as it deals with human behavior of groups. In fact one a study that integrates both is known as political sociology. Sociology also relates directly to history, as history involves conflict and human relationships.

Yes, anthropology, economics, political science, psychology, and sociology are all appropriately classified as social sciences.
Society is a more general topic than politics; politics are just one element of society, although they are obviously an important element which tends to influence all the other elements. Hence, political science could be described as a sub-set of sociology.
Social "science" is generally taken to include anthropology, economics, history, political "science," psychology and sociology.
