He's good-looking, and funny. He works at a gas station and he dropped out of school, but Ponyboy doesn't like to think of him that way because of his personality. Dropout to him seems like "failure," which doesn't suit his happy-go-lucky personality.
He's 16 going on 17, and very carefree.
He's tuff, and rarely smokes cigarettes unlike the other members of the gang.
He sticks up for Ponyboy when Darry yells at him. He is the only person who can tease Darry and get away with it because Darry doesn't mind it when he does it.
