There are a lot of percussion instruments. Percussion instruments can be classified into 2 smaller groups. Membranophones and Idiophones. Membranophones are Instruments that create sound through the vibration of an animal skin ,a drum head or any stretched membrane. Some examples are: Timpani/Tympani,Bass drum,Snare drum,tom toms,Djembe,Congas and etc. Idiophones on the other hand are instrument that produce or create sound by hitting them with other materials or objects or by hitting them with sticks basically it creates sound by vibration of the instrument as a whole. Some examples are: Shakers, Claves, Tambourine and etc.
