Why can carpooling and using mass-transit systems minimize some problems associated with the use of fossil fuels?

Carpooling and using mass-transit reduce the numbers of vehicles on the roads, and so the amount of fossil fuel is also reduced. Problems associated with the use of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) are largely pollution, particularly the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2), which is causing global warming. So car-pooling and mass transit systems help us reduce the rate of global warming.

How do you reduce coal?

By reducution of coal do you mean reducing the use of coal , or obtaining the chemicals from it. By reducing the use of coal you can use, wind, water, sunlight, nuclear to produce power. However, coal can baked in coke ovens to reduce it to coke(impure carbon), together with gases given off, such as carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, ammonia, hydrogen sulphide. These gases can be used industrially to make other things.

What year did mining start in?

Although today mining is generally associated with obtaining metals or coal, the earliest mines were focused on obtaining ore that could be used as dyes (hematite) or for tool construction (flint). The oldest known mine is the "Lion Cave" in Swaziland. It dates back 43,000 years. At the same period early man was mining flint in Hungary.
