Some problems are: 1. Dust pollution: the surrounding greenery is covered in a layer of dust 2. Noise pollution: loud explosions every day 3. Lorries carrying limestone to and fro cause noise and pollution 4. Quarries damage the landscape 5. Quarries destroy natural animal habitats etc etc.

The material is high volume and the environment is affected and indeed the landscape. It requires many truck/lorry movements or rail access because it is a high volume/low value material. This also affects the environment and surrounding areas. Children can fall in the pits if the area is not sealed off and secured. It may lower property values to the surrounding areas in the land plus farm animals may fall down the steep quarry/pit sides.
