5. Shakespeare had to leave Stratford because he was accused of poaching deer belonging to Sir William Lucy. Apart from the lack of evidence for this romantic tale, Lucy did not keep deer.
6. Shakespeare was Thomas Betterton's father. Since the only source of this dubious tale is Betterton himself, for whom it would be a considerable financial benefit, we can easily dismiss it.
