well, what i would do is first decide when you want to go to India. usually start planning around 3-4 months before. if you would like to see everything and more in india and want to spent atleast 2-3 days in each place then i would recommend to stay for 1-2 months. go online and take a look at some of the places that interest you. then think about getting tickets. if you want to visit family there as well, then add from 1 week to 1 month depending on how much of your family lives there. all of my family lives there and i am in the u.s so we usually go every other year for 1 month. i hope this helped!!
