i am a student at a school and i have looked on yahoo, google and ask.com asking the question why did art deco start but couldn't find an answer could you please help and answ…er this question. Thank-you Art Deco started because before the WW1 and WW2 countries like america had a lot of money, meaning they had money to waste. Because of this, they started to create extravagant pieces of furniture and art and even showing art deco in buildings. It's no until after the WW1 and WW2 that countries were no where near as rich as they were, because they had to rebuild there country and economy. After this they couldn't create extravagant things like they did and came up with a cheaper option called streamline moderne which is basically a plastic and metal version.
