They could make clothes to be any naturally occurring colour by simply dying the wool/linen they were using, the easiest being greens and reds due to the availability of plants that could create these colours. Some colours were not aloud, purple for example was a royal colour and to wear it ment you were a member of the royal family. Black was also an uncommon colour for poor people owing to the pot ash used for dyeing the fabric rotting the clothes. Only those who could afford to replace there clothes every couple of seasons could afford these.
