Christian beliefs come in several types. Some, such as the Christ being the promised Messiah from the house of David, are Judaic; some, like the virgin birth and the resurrection, are Pagan; some, like the Nativity story and the Word are Zoroastrian; some are modern inventions, like the Immaculate Conception (1854), created solely in order to dispose of difficult questions about the idea that Jesus was born without original sin; and some, like the very popular belief that you can hang witches and burn heretics at the stake for their own good, and they'll thank you for it later, seems to be Satanic in origin.
First of all, I would like to state that Christianityisn't just a religion or a set of beliefs its a relationship with Christ. The one major belief of a Christian is that Jesus was crucified for our sins and rose three days later and conquered the grave. (in other words, he kicked the devil's butt and saved us!!) The Ten Commandments will tell you a lot about our beliefs, but there are also other beliefs listed in other places in The Bible. Such as homosexuality being an abomination in the eyes of the Lord (Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13.) Also, the belief to love everyone as God has loved you. (John 13:34,35) I believe that this is speaking to our generation when the issue of race comes in to play. The Bible says to love EVERYONE, not to love just blacks, or just whites. (This is from a 14yr old girl's point of view.) It seems as if the belief of waiting until marriage to have sex is slowly fading away, but God doesn't change and neither does his word. Therefore sex before marriage is still wrong in the eyes of God. (Hebrews 13:4) This includes lust also, which is adultery in the heart. (Matthew 5:27,28) I really hope this helps someone if you have any other questions, all your answers are in the Bible! I've learned sooooooooo much by reading my Bible.
How to slice into that one!
I would break down the world's religions thus
Monotheistic: (Belief in one superior being/ Creator :god)
Judaism
Polytheistic: (Belief in more than one god)
Pantheistic: (Belief in elemental gods)
Wicca(?)
Cults: (Spin-offs of other religions, usually led by an individual)
AS PER ANTHROPOLOGY TERMS
Christianity, Islam
There are also atheist religions (no god).
Buddhism
There are a lot more religions, but most people are familiar with these. Those within a category have certain similarities, but each is truest to its founding culture.
(A note on Christianity: Christianity, though started in the Mid East, was adopted by the Roman Empire and subsequently Europe. This caused many changes in the depiction of the religion. For example: Though he was Jewish, Jesus somehow had blond hair and blue eyes
None, practice, beliefs and final destinations are all different.
Islam & Christianity have some common beliefs but certainly they have different beliefs including dogmatic ones since they are different religions.
40% are Christian and 20% are Muslim and 40% others practice traditional beliefs
There are many different religoins but the mane ones are Islam and christian
No.
Romans had gods and goddesses Christianity had a Godmeaning one
Yes they belong from a Christain family but their religious beliefs are a little different.
Different Christian denominations have different beliefs in the nature of Jesus. As there are a number of these different Christian churches active in Australia, there is no consensus among Aussie worshipers.
If you're a Christian yourself, you have shared beliefs, not least about the way you relate to each other. There are different types of Christians with different beliefs and that can cause problems. If the other partner is not Christian, there are few advantages as there will be differences over things both consider very important.
If you were thinking different religions? Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, and tons more...
