What are the disadvantages with infant baptism?

Answer:Throughout The Bible, there have been covenants, applying to believers as well as their household. Among these was circumcision. Baptism, is such a covenant, as evidenced by Acts 2:38-39. "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call."

"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. " Acts 16:31-33

Also, there were household baptisms.

"And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us." Acts 16:15

Some believe it isn't, because the child getting baptized doesn't really understand why it is getting baptized, or that Jesus died for our sins, and that baptism is symbolic of this.

The main disagreement with infant baptism is that they, themselves, don't get to choose whether or not they want to follow god. Even though most religions require children to go through confirmation in their teen years, if they were baptized as an infant, their choice has already been made for them out of force, rather than personal acceptation.

Answer:There are no instances of infants being baptized in the Bible. Every recorded baptism in the Bible was with an adult that was old enough to believe. So, the baptism of a baby is not valid. The main disadvantage is that if a person is baptized as a baby they may think that has some religious merit when it doesn't.
