Clearing one's conscious should make a person feel less anxious and guilty, and therefore, it would have a positive psychological effect. Feeling that you have been absolved from your sins, tends to lift the spirits, and makes a person feel renewed.
These are the effects. It:
* Forgives sin. * Reconciles one with God and the community. * Increases grace and the virtue of charity. * Increases self knowledge and strengthens the will.
(From the Grade 7 Christ Our Life Book)
The Sacrament of Reconciliation brings stress away from the soul. Sometimes your soul feels "dirty", or sinful. Reconciliation, also known as Penance, is when God forgives you of your sins, and you can have a happier life!
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is very important. When the sins are confessed...not omitted and repented you are forgiven and it is like you have never sinned. Most people in the Catholic church believe that there is no unforgivable sin as long as one repents. Repentance means that you turn away from the sin and do not want to do it again. Though both reasons are valid, it is best to be sorry for offending God then being afraid of hell, but fear of hell is believed to absolve your sins as well...if you go to confession. You leave confession in a state of grace and if you forget a sin, it is forgiven but you MAY want to mention it at your last confession. However, one who goes to confession intending to sin a sin again, is not forgiven...though I am not sure if that makes the entire confession invalid.
In the Catholic church, you go to a priest and confess your sins. The priest then says a prayer over you and your sins are forgiven. Someitmes the priest may tell you to say a certain prayer or do a good deed when you get home.
