When we talk about prospect of guidance and counseling services we are meaning ways whereby problems of counseling can be curb. Some paradigm are to help students gain insight into the origin and development of emotional difficulties, leading to increase capacity to take rational control over feeling and action. Another is to ulter mal-adjusted behaviour. To assist students move in the direction of fulfilling their potential within themselves. To provide students and children with the skills awareness and knowledge which will enable the to confront social, education, vocational and even personal-social inadequacies. And lastly to provide a great deal of psychological support to the clients.
In another view of this training of more counseling due to the paucity of trained counselor. Provision of fund for counseling service. Provision of psychometric tests. Support of the counselor by teachers most occasion teachers don't normally support counseling services and they try to make the work of counseling difficult for the counselor and also don't encourage students to meet counselor because they feel the counselors are also contending their jobs with them. In Nigeria we discover we do not have enough location for counseling and since counseling is to be done in a private place due to one of the principles of confidentiality we need to work on that.
