Assembling a computer can be exciting. You get experience in mounting the motherboard, installing the CPU, installing the RAM, and using diagrams to figure out where all the case wires go.

You sometimes experience frustration when the RAM doesn't want to seat properly, when you have difficulty reaching the wires and getting your fingers to work properly, or when you discover that the connections in the case do not match the connections on the motherboard (like installing an Intel motherboard in a case intended for an AMD motherboard). It is also frustrating when you find you have to modify some of the connectors, or when you find your power supply has a 4-pin plug for the motherboard when your motherboard has an 8-pin socket (it will often work, by the way).

Sometimes you may endure physical pain or injury. You may get shocked if you forget to unplug something, or you may drive a tool or a piece of the computer into your hand and have to go to the emergency room.

Then there are the emotional experiences. If it works, there is no feeling like it. You feel a sense of pride and accomplishment, and on top of the world. If it doesn't work, you may feel emotionally wounded, angry, worried, and/or disgusted. If you find the reason it doesn't works is a simple, fixable error or an improper setting, you may feel relieved. If you discover you damaged it installing it, you may feel sick, and you may be hard on yourself. But once you recover, you might feel the courage to try again and not make the same mistake again. Or you might seek some help from a professional PC builder. It might be a costly lesson, but you likely won't repeat it.
