  • Second is to witness that prophet Mohamed (peace upon him) as God's prophet and messenger.
  • Third is to believe in,and practice, ritual prayers, paying the compulsory charity (ZAKAT), fasting Ramadan, and performing Pilgrimage if possible.
  • Fourth is to have faith in God, all His angels, all His holy books, all His prophets, day of Judgment, and destiny.
  • Fifth is to fully obey God and his messenger Mohamed (peace upon him) by obeying what they order him/her to do and what they order not to do.
  • Sixth is to do good deeds for the benefit of his community, nature, and mankind.

Muslims are taught, by Islam, to observe the both wings of Islam religion; namely:

  • the first wing is to keep performing the ritual worships per the Islam 5 pillars, and
  • the second wing is to keep performing good deeds to the benefit of himself, family, community, and mankind.

As no bird can fly conveniently with only one wing or with one wing weaker than the other, Muslim can't be welcomed in the Heavens unless he is keeping good balance of the two Islam wings.

AnswerThe most important principle in Islam is worshiping one and only one God. Islam calls for human rights; no one is better than another with his color, race, gender, or culture. All are equal and difference among people is based on piety and doing good deeds. Islam considers all human free and have free will. Islam calls protecting environment. Islam calls all people to recognize that our life in the planet is short and that we should prepare our selves for the second eternal life where everyone will be judged by the Creator in what he did in his first life for himself, community, and environment.

In brief, the teachings of Islam are based on Quran (Holy book of God revelation to prophet Mohamed) and Prophet Mohamed (peace upon him) sayings and practices.

  • worship: this is to follow the five pillars of Islam and believe in the 6 pillars of faith.

The general teaching of Islam can be summed up in the pillars of Iman and the pillars of Islam.

The Pillars of Iman are pillars of belief and they are to believe in Allah, His Angels, His books, His messengers, the day of judgment, and the divine decree, whether it is good or bad.

By believing in these basic six pillars it sums up the creed of Islam.

The Pillars of Islam are actions which completes ones religion. They are:

1) To bear witness that there is no God worthy of worship but Allah and that Muhammad is His messenger (this is an action of the tongue)

2) To pray the five daily prayers

3) To give alms

4) To fast the month of ramadhan

5) To make hajj (pilgrimage to mecca) once in a lifetime

These are the general teachings of Islam. Of course, there are many more details that can be found in the Quran and the Sunnah (sayings and actions of the prophet Muhammad), but these are just the basics.

Literally the word 'Islam' means 'peace'. Religiously, it means complete and unconditional surrender to the Will of Almighty Allah (God). Following are some of the beliefs and teachings of Islam:

1. The major beliefs on which the Muslim traditions are based are: Eemaan Mujmal:Translation: I believe in Almighty Allah, as are His beautiful Names and Attributes, I accept all His Commands, I declare from my tongue, and testify by my heart. Eeman Mufassal:Translation: I believe in Almighty Allah. The Angels, all heavenly Books, all Prophets, in the Day of Judgment, and this that Good or Bad Destiny is from Him, and that there will be life after death and then No death (Eternal life in heaven or hell). Belief in Almighty Allah (God): God- Allah is ONE Allah. There is no god but He. He and He alone deserves worship. He is All-Knowing, All-Seeing. All power lies in His Hands. He will punish the sinners and reward the Good. He is Eternal, Unique, and incorporeal. There is nothing like Him. He is Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Supreme One. No one can understand His true Nature or True Being.

2. Belief in Angels Created by Almighty God- Allah Karim from light. They are obedient to Allah Karim. Carry out His commands. The Jews and Christians also believe in the Angels.

3. The Muslims believe in all heavenly books, including Tora, Zaboor, The Bible, the last one being the Qur'an.

4. The Muslims believe in all the Messengers (Prophets May peace be upon them all) of Almighty Allah- No distinction among them. Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) being the last Prophet of Islam. NO Prophet after him.

5. The Muslims believe in the life after death, resurrection and the Day of Judgment. Almighty Allah Karim is the Sole Ruler/Master of that Day. He enjoys the absolute authority to send people to Heaven or Hell. .

6. The Muslims believe that good and bad Destiny being in the Hands of Almighty Allah. No One can change his destiny.

7. Life hereafter: All the dead will be raised again and judged according to their good or bad deeds. There will be no death to them.

8. Hell and Heaven (Paradise)

9. The Muslims believe that Nobody can take the responsibility of some other person's deeds.

10. All the power of decision making is in the Hands of Almighty Allah, and none else.

11. The Muslims must give charity 2.5% of annual saving. They should also help the poor and the needy, irrespective of their caste, creed, color or country because all human beings are the off-spring of One couple- Hazrat Adam (AS) and Hazrat Eve (AS).

12. The Muslims must live a noble, chaste, truthful, honest, just and fair life.

13. The Muslims must be kind to all human beings and all creatures of Almighty Allah.

14. It is very unfortunate that most of the Muslims don't follow the teachings of Islam. They are notorious for their terrorism, cruelty, dishonesty and injustice. Anyhow, Islam disowns Terrorists, unjust and cruel people.
